Prague, Czechia - The Geographic Migration Centre, in collaboration with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the support of the United Nations Information Centre Prague (UNIC) and the Czech office of the United Nation High Commissioner for Refugees, are thrilled to announce the upcoming Summer School on Migration Studies. Scheduled from August 31st to September 6th, 2025, at the Faculty of Science, Charles University in Prague, this program is dedicated to the subject of Human Migration's Impact on Development and Social Change.
Since 2009, IOM Czechia and the Geographic Migration Centre have been at the forefront of fostering understanding and discussion on migration through their summer schools. These annual events have welcomed over a thousand participants from around 100 countries, providing a rich, global perspective on migration. Attendees have had the opportunity to engage with distinguished experts from academia, international and non-governmental organizations, and migrants' organizations, gaining insights into the multifaceted nature of migration.
The course will be held at Charles University, founded in 1348 and recognized as one of the oldest European universities. It will feature a blend of lectures, seminars, workshops, and panel discussions led by experienced scholars and practitioners. Topics will range from political, economic, sociocultural, demographic, and development, to geographical perspectives on migration.
The program is not only academic; it also includes cultural events that promise to enrich the participants' experience in Prague. The tuition fee of 350 EUR covers lectures, lunches, coffee break refreshments, learning materials, an introductory corporate dinner, and a cultural program, ensuring a comprehensive and engaging learning environment.
Accommodation options include the university halls of residence, providing a convenient and affordable stay for participants. However, attendees should note that the fee does not cover transport and accommodation costs.
Applications are now open until further notice, inviting students and young professionals passionate about migration issues to apply for this unique opportunity to learn, network, and contribute to the global dialogue on migration and the integration of refugees.
